The 2013 Whale Season has been a great time for seeing everything that the Port Stephens Marine Park has to offer! From Humpbacks breaching, Pacific Common Dolphins in large pods, Fairy Penguins drifting about, Australian Fur Seals laying back in the water and on the rocks at Cabbage Tree Island and, of course, Sea Turtles and Marine Birds.
About the only thing we have not had the pleasure of seeing this season was Migaloo, we have heard that he was already up on the Gold Coast so he must have snuck past Port Stephens‘s Nelson Bay headlands during the night on the way back down!
So as the end of October and beginning of November greets us, so do the continous south migration of the Humpback mothers and their newborn baby whales! They are travelling in full force down the coast keen to “show off, which always means a magical cruise with tail slaps, breaching and spy hops, along with travelling along the side of the Catamaran”
Imagine are still running two three hour whale watching cruises every day with the last on the 10th of November, which is when we have seen a drop in sightings in the past. So dont miss out being part of the 2013 whale season!
