Whale Watching Port Stephens NSW Australia

A nice shot of Migaloo (Albino Humpback whale) tailing near Broughton Island off Port Stephens, a rare sight and a marine biologist's dream. Imagine Cruises have met with the white giant 7 times in the past nine years and every time is an awesome experience with this very rare whale. Migaloo is seen here tailing, not necessarily a good sign: Humpback whales use their tails as weapons if they are attacked or feel threatened. They will slap it on the ocean surface to show discontent. Imagine's boat was quite far away at the time this photo was taken but the powerful male was courting and showing it's power to other male whales.

Many species of whales have been watched from Imagine Cruises' tours off Port Stephens and nature often has surprises for us. Whale watching is not like going to the zoo. It is nature as it is on the day and we are always excited to be going. Going whale watching is supported by conservationists' organisations like ORCA, IFAW and Greenpeace. Whale watching makes economic sense world wide against the wishes of some nations to return to whaling.
